All posts tagged Mission: Support are designed to help mothers of missionaries support their sons and daughters in their work.
It's all hearsay though! My oldest son is about to turn 18, so while our minds are definitely on preparing for a mission, I'm not experienced in the art of missionary support yet.
But I promise to troll the internet and squeeze info out of all my friends to bring you the best ways to support your missionaries!
My friend Kim H. gave me some good advice just yesterday, not about sending your kids out on a mission, but about when they come home:
If your child has a birthday that puts them on a timeline where they'll be arriving home from their mission just a couple weeks too late to start a new college semester, you can ask your stake president to find out if they can report for their mission a couple of weeks earlier than originally assigned. Many times this request will be honored, allowing your child to come home and be enrolled in college right away, rather than sitting around trying to figure out how to fill their time for a whole semester.
Of course, a job is a good time filler, too, but I'm all for getting that college education done as soon as possible! Life is sure to get busier as time goes on :)
I know some will disagree with asking for any changes to an assignment that's already been made, but my feeling is that if the change shouldn't be made, they'll just tell you no, and no harm done.
